Druids to the Dryads

they say whispers dwell in  ancient woods
when the earth populated by playful gods
then druids walked with wisdom
assuring spirits of nature's abundance

congregating neath boughs of trees
tall and towering leafy canopies
they sheltered spirits that dwelled
within their embraces so ancient

they guard the realms with staffs of oak
while dryads dance in sunlight's glow
laughter light with shimmery skin
in emerald skirts they dance and bow

they say that when twilight appeared
they merged as one in magical ebb
they shared a bond forever entwined
from promises made in ancient time

I, Dryad, ancient kin
long forgotten
in a land where
no oak stands
