Bending the barrel

I rest my face in my hands

as endless airstrikes,
bombs, and missiles tear
into the ordinary lives
of Palestine,

knowing this country
was the second biggest
arms dealer since
2010 to 2019

most sales going
to the middle east
who are often the
largest buyers,

I won't sit here
like a hypocrite
knowing this
little island

this government

has caused
catastrophe

affecting the
lives of so many
families, and
children,

this country should
hang it's head in shame

knowing it hasn't learned
anything from history

as billions of pounds
are made to fuel
crimes against
humanity,

I won't sit ignorant
pretending not to
know about it

the question is
when will this
country ever
learn,

to re-purpose
their arms and
stretch them
out saying

how can
we help?
