The Duel

Shattered in fragments of despair
Bleeding out amidst the negativity
Dark figure returns an empty stare
Spending precious time in captivity

Kindred spirts begin a verbal spar
Debating over this faint existence
Always picking at the freshest scar
Within a form of subtle persistence

Course words snarl in spite
Matching wits for this soul
Claiming my own birthright
In a lifelong duel for control

Author's Note
Late night musing. The duel inside is good versus evil, that's what makes it a constant till you leave this world. Appreciate you.
