All That Remains
Its better to have loved and lost
Then to have never loved at all
Thats bullshit
Nothing more than a feel good line
A weak attempt to soften the blow
Something only people who have lost would say
Could understand the need for
Whats better is the dream
The hope of what might be
The desire behind it all
That is better than losing love
I had love
I had my dream
I know what its like
That knowing is what makes losing it unbearable
I wish I hadn't loved
That I didn't experience my dream
The problem with dreams
Is that they lose their draw once you achieve them
The drive is gone
The magic dissipates
Sometimes when we get our dream
We become entitled
As if there is no more work to be done
We get complacent
We forget the fight
We take it for granted
We dont appreciate it
We no longer deserve it
I had everything I ever wanted
I had a family
Something to be a part of
Someplace to belong
A home
Now I have nothing
I hoped for so many years
I dreamed for most of my life
Having and losing is not better than the dream
If I could choose between the two
Loving and losing
Or never loving at all
I'd take the latter without hesitation
Because a life after losing it all
Is not a life worth living
A life where you know what is missing
Is a life of constant torment
Be careful what you wish for
Because you just might get it
The thing with wishes...
Is that theres always a catch
It is better to never have loved
Then to have loved and lost
The memory of love stays
The feeling of loss stays
They haunt you
They change you
They imprint on your soul
Until all that remains is regret
Then to have never loved at all
Thats bullshit
Nothing more than a feel good line
A weak attempt to soften the blow
Something only people who have lost would say

Whats better is the dream
