Box Top Memories - with Grace

Remembering the days
of bric-a-brac
old moons forgotten
that can't be erased

embers of cold hearths
and androids with dust
of dogeared solitaire
and Queen of Hearts

fading photographs
and bent rabbit ears
black walnuts
and beef bouillon

whispering wipperwills
and blue egg robins
a broken Jack-in-the-Box
and Kellog box tops

remembered sighs
on Sunday afternoons
lazy hands-on taut thighs
serenades in loving tones

half-eaten sandwich
on picnic blankets
together at the beach
glorious sunsets

books on the shelves
titles promising adventures
forgotten for seconds
stealing kisses

under the stairs
all forgotten now
sepia pictures
footprints of yesteryear's snow
