An Echo, Golden Dusts
I heard your voice today
a single word right in my ear
the words Gracie loud and clear
I sat frozen trying hard to hear
would there be more words
would your voice be heard
and repeated very kindly
so I could hear it again clearly
Three years have passed since
you went to sleep and never woke up
our poems for you had tapered off
I waited for dreams to conjure you up
You never came into my dreams
when tears dusts the remembrance
from my weary eyes and heart
I turn inward to embrace golden dusts
your home is gone now
the red flowers won't ever bloom again
other hearts will beat within
maybe they will love as much as you
in my heart the candle eternal on the window
lighting the wanderer's way home
to lay again at the warmth heart's hearth
in the land where all souls go
When I close my eyes to see your face
again, I hope to hear your voice so clear
perhaps see your radiant smile
and again hear you call my name
a single word right in my ear
the words Gracie loud and clear
I sat frozen trying hard to hear
would there be more words
would your voice be heard
and repeated very kindly
so I could hear it again clearly
Three years have passed since
you went to sleep and never woke up
our poems for you had tapered off
I waited for dreams to conjure you up
You never came into my dreams
when tears dusts the remembrance
from my weary eyes and heart
I turn inward to embrace golden dusts
your home is gone now
the red flowers won't ever bloom again
other hearts will beat within
maybe they will love as much as you
in my heart the candle eternal on the window
lighting the wanderer's way home
to lay again at the warmth heart's hearth
in the land where all souls go
When I close my eyes to see your face
again, I hope to hear your voice so clear
perhaps see your radiant smile
and again hear you call my name
