The Rise, Fall & Rebirth of a Giant
Once imperative to growth
Now decaying
Dilapidated
The future home of condos and a shopping district
History succumbs to progress
The death of beauty
Now decaying
Dilapidated
The future home of condos and a shopping district
History succumbs to progress
The death of beauty

You're obsessed!!! But in a good way! Yes, that word you used, 'progress' worries me. Why can't we have both the industrial & post industrial architecture, side by side? You sense that building is doomed, don't you?

Is that all we are condo's and shopping malls?
Progress is the death of once beautiful history.

Progress is sometimes necessary, but usually benefits those who are greedy. They seem to win every time. Photos are the only link to the past besides memories.

the Earth is interactive and full of ancient magic she has been refurbished or reborn many times neither human, angel or being will destroy utterly the Father's masterpiece His crowning jewel she will renew after some of the powers that be are permanently evicted those who glory in destroying her... creating foul spirits with their lust, anger, bigotry the demons are afraid of only one being that is our Father...great write...

I echo DragonBlood's comment.
It does remind me of the flax mill in my nearest town (Shrewsbury, England) which has last decade and more been restored and refurbished to become not a shopping mall/condo but a community hub with workshops for small businesses. Built 1790s it is claimed to be the oldest 'skyscraper' in the world.

Steel framed, the ancestor of such structures as that in your pictures.
The mill switched in the 1880s after flax milling ceased to a brewery maltings, then from the 1980s became derelict, so this building has experienced a rebirth but happily without a literal structural fall.

Why can't progress be built upon history, every dollar is built upon a penny. Lot of these building because of material quality and craftmanship could easily be renovated, redesigned, and repurposed. We continue to destroy the forest while filling the landfills with wood products. Tight work Lady

Breaks my heart when they tear down history for more mundane sameness...My city has a history of deliberately allowing buildings to decay so they can declare them a blight & tear them down. So sad
