Do travel
Far abroad
To where
your home mundanity
become exotic wonders,
And your unremarked accent
Evokes awed interest.

Go beyond the tourist traps
Of assigned photoshoots;
To where you can chat with locals
And a few fellow
bewildered foreigners,
To places where ordering lunch
is a linguistic trial,
And you smile sweetly
To remarks referencing
That popular global thing
from back home
that wasn’t really your cup of tea
though it did rake in the cash,
It will be worth it
For the boost in self confidence.

Travel broadens the mind
And bolsters the heart.
