Sacrilege

The present moment is all I have
Aware of body, mind and breath
I do not believe in any god
Or in a fate that is foretold
Or that a man or woman can be holy at all
I have no cross upon my wall
Only a statue of the Buddha, sitting tall

He reminds me until my death
That the present moment is all I have
And if I let go of my mindfulness

Then this is the only true sacrilege

Author's Note
I was born and raised a Christian, but now in my late thirties I see that present moment awareness is the only master I want to bow down too. I hope there is a god who loves us, and that there is an afterlife, but all I know for sure that I have is the present moment.
