I doubt he’d have had any truck with the recent incumbents of
the job
turned out to be too much for him
but at least he got rid of
enoch powell, which I doubt very much that
boris johnson, liz truss,
or rich bloody sunack
would have ..

I am not educated enough about British politics to really comment on this except that from what I've heard about Johnson, he seemed to be a somewhat version of Trump.

40 years on from Thatcher's experiment with privatisation, etc - and we see/feel/experience the disastrous results. Those who predicted the eventual outcome of 'selling the family silver' were shouted down, or ousted, or called a socialist/commie.
Perhaps we need a new version of Mary Whitehouse! :) for starters ... ... who knows, maybe there'll be a puritanical backlash.
I was brought up on the 1960s/70s belief in "we all rise together to build a better world for all after the sacrifices in two world wars" . It's hard to have watched it all disappear into everyman-for-himself, and the gig economy, etc.
