I like the way the poem captures their majesticness (went to Sequoia National Park in 1998).
On learning these trees never stop growing we took it as our totem tree, renamed our house 'Sequoia', and brought a cone back, planting seeds the following year. 14 trees took root and they were about 4-5ft tall when we moved to Portugal and gave them to a friend with more land - hope they're still growing.

Oh how interesting. I hope they'd not been cut. Logging is rampant here and any big trees are seen as money. How's Portugal?

No, not cut. We picked up a cone lying on the ground, brought it home. Some months later the cone opened up and lots of seeds fell out. We planted the seeds and 14 of them survived and grew into little saplings. We then handed them on to a friend who had land and he planted them.
Portugal is fine, and calm where we live in the middle of nowhere - the very rural central-north part. Best place to live in Europe by our reckoning. Currently lots of Israelis are coming here, but I think mainly as a gateway to the rest of Europe.

I live about 2 hours from the National Park in California. They are majestic indeed, beautiful and amazing.
