run-on life
somebody asked me
why don't I use punctuation
or capitalize the beginning of a line
apparently they found it offensive
lazy...or some such nonsense
well...the answer is this
my writing reflects my life
I write as I think
and my experience of existence...
...seems to have always been one long run-on sentence
it all runs madly together...
...with the occasional ellipses
while the system is still loading
...before throwing me back into the chaos
where I'm forced to sort through the rubble
trying to make sense of it
until this is what you get
emotions sorted into verses
with the random pause...
...to emphasize a particular thought
be thankful I use spaces between words...
...although not always...
I'm not at all pretentious
...just speaking the way I process
one big mess of words...
...spread...
...exactly the way they emerge

Girl, run-on all you want. In life, in your poetry, in everything. It’s beautifully uniquely you. And thank God for that.

I am what I am...a catastrophic disaster. 😂 But I own it unapologetically. Thank you so much for such a great comment!

Is that what it's called? I just write what comes out in the order it escapes my mind. Thank you so much!

Re. run-on life
Sure, you've let your punctuation hair down, but that's not the end of the editorial world:)
Much punctuation exists just to indicate where the dramatic conversation pauses are supposed to be, and even the best writers mess that up from time to time, which is why everyone needs an editor.
But let's focus on what you do very well. You make the most out of the tree dot ellipsis points...and I just love that, because I think that's the go to pause indicator whenever you're not sure about all the others, like periods, commas (which kind, Oxford or serial?), colons, and semi-colons.
When in doubt...use the dots! They are totally valid, and you will see them in almost all of my poems.
I get the run-on life thing, but your poems are totally comprehensible:)

I use those 3 dots a lot. Possibly where I'd pause in speaking to finish organizing the thought I'm trying to convey. Thank you so much for the well thought out comment! I appreciate the feedback

First things first...get the words out onto the page.
You can, and should, always organize them later. I understand that a lot of medieval textual works were written without punctuation, or even spacing, because it was expected that the reader would know.
Hey if you ever need pretentious input...I'm your man!

The one thing I'm really good at is being me! My poetry has to be me too. I never have to overthink my writing. I do enough of that out in the Big World. 😊

It goes where it goes in the manner most familiar. Organized chaos is mine!

I totally get this. Sometimes the line break is all the punctuation you need! Personally, I'm all over the place with punctuation - sometimes I use it, sometimes not - as the words move me. But, it's never about laziness... that complaint is utter bullshit. The thoughts come how they come, and we write how we write! You do you.
By the way, you're not a disaster. You're a creative tempest, attuned to what's under the surface. It's OK. 🙂

Grammar is one in a long line of stifling unnecessary evils. So far I’ve just read this example ( I’ll read more) and I found it delightful and dare I say whimsy. Good stuff, I enjoyed thoroughly!
