For decades surveys have consistently shown that about 70% of people don't like their work and would quit if they could. However, maybe this feeds the sensible habit of escaping into reading.

I've been trying to read a book of essays for 2 months now, but every time I pick it up my toddler wants to "read" it.

That feels like my life most day, though my kiddo enjoys me reading anything aloud to him. The worst was when he found a Nintendo Wii manual in a donate box we had, and insisted I read it to him.

our son is twenty nine now, and his wife is due to give birth to a son of their own next week. I tell him to finish the book he’s currently reading fairly quickly!
