I've worked at both my art and recently my writing lately, wanting to improve there.  It's a long game as it is said.  I enjoy both immensely.  I guess I always want my writing to have a more graceful feel but in reality I'm a slice and dice kinda guy so I've got work to do.

Where have you been ?  Think I didn't notice ?  Think everyone didn't notice ?? Everyone is saying, Where's H ?  
Well, hope you were doing something fun !

I know I know, it looks like I was fishing on this one but it's not true.  I definitely have a style which as we know is rough and tumble but when I read others sometimes I envy the way words mix and mingle with effortless panache.  I'd like to be able to do that and the good news is I haven't given up yet.

Appreciate the comment on my painting, it's a personal moody favorite.  I see moody as good.  How weird am I ?

And as I'm telling everyone, stay tuned.  I'm patrolling the literary streets and avenues and outlaws will answer to me !

Gawd, I hope you're not including me in this too, seeing how you're referencing your shaft rising!  Dude no!!  Lol.

Listen, we all fall under the guise of being a writer. Few of us are truly poets. I consider myself simply a creative writer.  I see "poets" as those classical, established, historical even, types.  But that's just my opinion.  We all are writers.  I've said it before;  Every nail holds the house of DUP together.  
  Your dual ability is your strength, obviously.  And, when you do slow down a bit and concentrate more as a writer, it shows.  Especially your past several.  I noticed.  I think at times you feel the need to "add words" to a painting that you want to share, and not so much to add a picture to the poem that you wrote.  The value is flipped.
Painting is your primary much of the time, yes?  But, you are a fine writer when you write, especially when that is your first goal.

So keep on keeping on, Gary.  You're awesome.

Yes I am an artist first but I write more than paint lately.  Sometimes I'll do both at the same time but that's rare.  It's more write the poem and then frame it with an existing painting or one I did recently.

Dup is a funny place.  I agree, there are few actual poets here but like painting you become self taught.  I do enjoy writing narrative type poems.  This poem was borne out of a desire to do more with what I have and to slow my process and not try and just dash them out.  I'll always be a work in progress and I'm not going anywhere so as I always say at the end.
