You in the Blue

There he is sitting in a sea of blue
We spotted him as he made that face
He’s waiting for them to call his name
It must’ve felt like the slowest fastest race

Here at these crossroads into adulthood
It’s a celebration and culmination of four years
Saying goodbye to friends and classmates
And carrying treasured memories of close peers

This is the first milestone of a young person’s life
Endless opportunities are waiting to be seized
And no matter what obstacles may lay ahead
I’m sure there are more things he’ll achieve

He’s not that little boy sitting in kindergarten
It’s a new chapter now that he can turn the page
My Xander Pie is now a high school graduate
Go ahead buddy, walk…strut across that stage
