Staying Silent

Crouched down behind the furnace trying not to make a sound
In the dark dingy basement once gave you the creeps
Now you pray it's your only escape from the man who's screaming your name
Hands shaking and heart beat is pounding in your brain
Staying silent is the hardest thing when you're fucking terrified
His footsteps stomp above you and you hear reckage of his destruction
Glass breaking couches flipping every thud causes your throat to clinch
Shaking as you hear the basement door creak open
Panic sinks in as he makes his way down the stairs one by one
Thud
Thunk
Thud
Thunk
Thud
Thunk
He's taunting you as he makes his way around the room
"I know you're in here." He yells sending shivers down your spine
Stay silent because if you don't he will make you pay
Tears rolling down your face as you hold your breath
Praying to God he goes back upstairs and leaves the house
Something crawling up your back sending a wave of torment through you
Wanting to shrug off the black spider but you have to stay as still as possible
As if sensing you fear the creature scurried off you shoulder and up the wall
You envy the insect wishing you could do the same
A loud crash of paint cans being thrown from their shelves snaps you back to reality
So startled you let out a scream of fear and regret washes over
His evil chuckle howls through the air as he reaches in and grabs your hair
Pulling you out with merciless force you dread not staying silent
Begging him not to hurt you again and apologizing for misbehaving
It falls on deaf ears as he pins you up against the wall hand pressing against your neck
Delivering blow after blow to your already swollen face
Cries of pain and grunts of frustration fill the darkness of your prison
Throwing you down into the spilled paint as he screams profanity towards you
Guilt washed over you for staying silent for far to long
Looking up at the man who vowed until death do us part
Who promised to love and to cherish you in sickness and in health
He was the devil in a tall green eyed disguise
Blow after blow he connects his boot with your torso
Dizziness starts to set in as his face blurs in and out
Sinking into darkness as you think "Oh God, help me keep staying silent."
He's standing over your lifeless body staring with fear in his eyes
Beckoning you to wake up once more claiming he can not live with out you
Please baby I will change I swear I can do it I won't hit you ever again
His pleas fall on deaf ears as he sob against your chest
All because burnt your Anniversary Dinner he sent you staying silent to your tomb
