When the portal opened I arrived at an abandoned city
Though the skies were blue there was not a soul in sight
I teleported about one hundred miles away into the hills
The braces indicated that there was radiation at these sites
 
I went through several cities until I found some human life
But I could see small slums and shanties of people everywhere
This universe had been through a total of four world wars
Humanity in this Earth was in complete misery and despair
 
I teleported to another realm and that one was just as bad
City dwellers lived in poverty and squalor, famine and disease
The 6291 codes meant a thirty-year cold war had culminated
In a nuclear destruction that still showed no sign of peace
 
Before I opened the portal I felt a terrible sadness for that world
The worst of humanity came to fruition like a true nightmare
But when I stepped through into the next there were still hot fires
An unknown world was still burning from whatever happened there
 
The next one though seemed a little more dreary, scary and eerie
Though the neighborhoods seemed normal they felt mostly…ghostly  
That’s when I saw people staggering toward me, creeping up slowly  
Then I noticed their skin was rotting and the smell was quite…grossly
 
I said “what in the return of the thriller-walking-living dead is this?
Did I watch way too many movies about zombies and infection?
What happened in this universe? It’s going from bad to worse!
Now these fools are trying to give me some morbid affection”
 
And as I was monologuing they started getting closer to me
“I’m out” I blurted out and luckily I’m still fast on my feet
I ran about one whole city block when I started getting winded
“Damn all those burritos and cheesecakes and sweet treats”
 
Then I remembered, “hey I have a teleportation device”
I looked at the Z code on the braces and it all made sense
“Next world” I said and I just got the hell out of there
But the next realm would have me in as much suspense
 
People went about their way in the streets living their life
I said to myself “Ok this isn’t bad at all I guess I shouldn’t fear”
Everyone was on their phones but when they looked up and saw me
They started yelling angrily “HEY, YOU DON’T BELONG HERE!”
 
Talk about toxic, a universe filled with nothing but bigotry and hate
“You’re right” I said so I opened the portal to get away from these Nazis
Their eyes opened wide when they saw my magic as some said “Wait!”
“Nope, don’t want any of this mess, I rather take my chances with zombies”
