Flames

Today on the way out towards the panhandle,
I saw smoke out on the horison,
I kept quiet, and didn't babble,
Craned my neck to see, squinting for my vision,
Thought it was maybe a brush fire,
I saw the glorious power of flames,
It was more than my brain could handle, like sharp briar,
Nature and gods certainly were playing no games.
It was beautiful and yet terrifying,
Only about twenty-five minutes ago,
A car transport on the right shoulder, burning,
Flames from inside every car, burning not slow,
We could barely see through the smoke for a minute,
As they waved us on, and we drove so slow,
My mind in awe, the moment it does revisit,
Feeling the heat all the way in the left hand lane,
It was incredible, I took a video, and I'll post it to YT,
Amazing, I could see the detail of every flame,
The smoke, the heat, the orange intensity,
The nature of combustion is a beautiful danger,
And a dangerous beauty, it is,
A causation bet, I cannot wager,
But the awe is still there, it is.

Author's Note
On the way out of town to help my grandmother move, and a car transport was in fire on the shoulder, it was was amazing and f-ed up at the same time. (My only edits were to add a comma to line three, after "see", the rest of line seven after handle because I forgot to rhyme that line, and to add this edit note. It did start out as a stream of consciousness.)
