Thoughts Framed at Splash Point, 15:00

And though the rain draized
last night’s dream from my eyes,
the vision shared its secrets with the sea

An horizon tanker spilt ink into everything,
in this grey land between two piers
wedded are the hidden fingers of light

Nothing I could say would make the sea weep
for she’s been crying forever, or so it seems,
galleons of whisky would bring you closer to me
in gallery of ‘love oft whispered, is ready to submit’

the dark-lit sand remembered
baptised fragment disciples from cloud scree:

The old man knelt at lips of the tide
to resuscitate the fallen sea bird,
eyes closed as if they should apologise for all this
and mouths suddenly fell silent

In the distance,
beyond dredgers and breakers,
a kite took hold and soared
existence in a small child’s hands

Tangled strings and suffocating air
has kept the kite hangar’ed,
gallows ropes finally loosened
awaiting trap-door into feathered fathoms

It will be lovers who seminate last rites
upon the old man’s bones
as swallow breath on her final nest

Author's Note
Used to wee in sea as a kid, as responsible adult waded with love and now, tell her everything. She speaks back. Waiting with virtue and grace of a Saint. Splash Point is a geographical nomenclature & actually exists, not a euphemism for things carnal. Or anything splashy come to think of it. Genuinely believe that those of the coast have a different mind set.
