Bonfire by Twilght
He Piled up the past, set it ablaze.
Under Sapphire twilight
Specked with diamonds.
The fox watched the red hot light
From the safety of the briar
Hungry winter flames
Leapt out of oil and turpentine
And the rubble of the past
Was turned to ash

I feel like this has a rather subtle but engaging alchemy to it, the image blooms lurid, voice has a quiet authority.

Thank you,
It is along the same lines as the notable sky pieces. I sat in the cold staring into the flames. I thought about how the generals and politians are remembered but the people consumed by the flames of war are forgotten.
Fire changed humans, we went from animals to intelligent beings by the light of the fire.
Regards
James

I appreciate the insight into your intention with the piece, it's something quite salient to our species.

Thank you.
I agree, both the metaphorical past, and the literal rubble that living produces.
It is true.

James

Thank you,
These recent poems are an attempt to detatch myself from the words and create an image, a moment in time. I am glad you enjoyed the art and poem. I think everyone should paint and draw their poems and then write them. It works.
Regards
James

Thanks,
I have been trying my hand at a style similar to yours, words and art together, so to speak. I have been trying to merge my love of nature with my fury of words.

People get into my poems when they know I did the art. It's always been effective. Sometimes there are no words. That's fine too ....

Hi,
Thank you for your kind words.
I looked into the bonfire, and wrote and illustrated it from real life.
