Frank's Pillow

Sometimes I like to imagine you’d be here with us
You and I would’ve spent hours watching World Cup
Then you’d tell me a story from your playing days
We’d share laughs and talk over drinks

Sometimes I wish I could go to you for advice
Or I’d ask about grandpa and grandma
About the farm
But it’s just a passing thought
Now I’ve lost much of my family history

Sometimes I want to pick up a bottle and reminisce
But I broke my own little rule some weeks ago
For Cindy’s wedding
I had one shot with my son
Like some rite of passage
And I wished you could have been there

I wished you could have walked my sister down the isle
I wished I could hear your boisterous laughter
I wished I could have seen your dance moves again
You were always the life of the party

Dad
I’m not angry anymore
I just wish we could’ve had more time
I miss you

We made pillows out of your old shirts
Mine is the red, blue and white checkered one
Every day it sits on my bed
Or it’s under my head
When I watch fútbol games
