There are definitely those type of dirty dogs as well MP. I was going for more of a light hearted meaning in this instance. But absolutely get what you are saying as well.

Hey Ted. Thanks cute and fun is what I was going for. For as much as I hate rules a lot of the time. lol I actually like Senryu... having to think of how to fit the syllables. Not good with rhyming though unless I just write it naturally which happens on rare occasion but not usually throughout the whole piece. Oh well, something to think about in the future perhaps. ;) Sometimes minimalist works and I am so happy you liked this one. :)

Awhh - I have a pit bull who is a gentle soul. His name is Rex.
He's the only dirty dog that takes any initiative to learn.

I love pit bulls they are very sweet. It's sad when people train them to be mean. Rex is a very masculine name. :p Pit bulls are smart too, lots of initiative. How old is your dirty dog?

I knew there was a metaphor! As someone who had two rescue dogs  I can say the first bath can be traumatic.

Always a metaphor in my writing somewhere. It's always lovely when you take in rescues and give them a good home. I am sure they learned to love those baths too but yeah traumatic. Try giving a feral cat a bath... Talk about blood. Oh man... That's an experience. :p What kind of dogs? Big or little?

And yes, you can teach an old dog new tricks.  They learn best using the treats for reward method!
