boldness in the hereafter
i.
the weight
left behind
was dense
almost sticky
as it hung in air
adhering him
everywhere
ii.
Freedom
is kaleidoscopic
i grow my power
stronger
bit by bit
reinforcing
consequences
of new choices
anytime
anyplace
with anyone
anywhere
reborn,
with that unrepentant
nature
i thought died
when he did.
iii.
Reaching out,
grasping
tightly
with both hands
exuberance
is birdsong
stark clarity
cleanses a palate
{coffee never tasted better}
my smile—
greedy
barely containable
beams
self made
promise
where
happiness,
once hidden
away
shines
crystal clear
with
every
single
sovereign
day

Re: Re. boldness in the hereafter
Hey there, Jay,
I was hoping you'd check out my Halloween sw recording that I did, considering it's subject matter.. lol...I hope you take a listen, regardless I think you'll enjoy! No worries, though, it's always nice to get your pov on anything I brave to publish, as you always seem keen on my intent.
Yeah, for this piece it came from more of a good surprise, where sometimes starting over isn't as easy as it's imagined and then other times it can end up being freedom, incarnate...
Thanks for stopping by and for leaving me your thoughts. It's very much appreciated and genuinely valued

I know that the version I am today wouldn't exist without going through what I went through sometimes I wonder if that's a good or a bad thing.. Lol... I completely understand, about wondering what your younger self would say or think about you now? It's an interesting and thought provoking notion..

Re: Re. boldness in the hereafter
Your comments mean so much, my lovely friend. You've taken a page out of my mind's playbook and yes, totally understood what it was that I was hoping to convey. Sometimes, we're not entirely sure just how much unwanted darkness we might be inadvertently stewing in, until we've removed ourself from the situation to gain some hindsight.
That 'lightness' and sense of unparalleled freedom is an awakening....Which can be a hearty welcome to a brand new way of living and loving.
Yes, stepping out into that most beautiful light, indeed.
Thank you... most ardently for your beautiful soul and most gracious kind words.
I appreciate you taking the time to leave me the insightful feedback you have.

Re: Re. boldness in the hereafter
Actually, I've made a career change. Left the factory to work for a food bank. Rather help people for awhile instead of trying to push one more unit out the door. Or to put it another way, I finally followed a dream. So I've been learning Oracle NetSuite & Waerlinx computer programs instead the SAP I'm used to.
Got some time this weekend so I'll see what I can come up with. ❤😉

Re: Re. boldness in the hereafter
Well that sounds completely AMAZING and like a total true dream come true, indeed! Just in time for the holidays, too... when the need is at an apex. I swear I'm almost in tears reading this because it's an issue so close to my heart and to my life's experiences. I grew up with a best friend who's father ran an old school soup kitchen in the neediness part of our city. Throughout the years it has been able to not only maintain it's presence but it's even grown to a food pantry alongside the twice a day meal service that's offered. It's a landmark now! All funded with donations and some money allocated by the city. I've volunteered there many many times and have often 'adopted' families or women with children and secured them with the bare essentials when it's been a dire situation. I applaud your decision and wish you all the best in learning Oracle NetSuite... I know you'll do great, dear J.
You've made my night with this news, thanks for sharing.
I do hope your creative side gets a little time invested, this weekend- I'm sure you'll come up with something great and beautiful... it's who you are... - 🌹 💙

Re: Re. boldness in the hereafter
The thing about being tethered for a long long LONG period of time is that once you're set free, even the tiniest first steps of freedom feel gigantic. It's not until you're really caught up with a new pace and sense of reality do you really begin to flap your wings to take flight.... Never needing to look back.... Only keeping that option as a learning tool and as hindsight.
Yes, one's lung capacity definitely increases with new unobstructed possibilities! 🙆🏻♀️
I think that a lot of folks can takeaway a kind of relatable feeling, (I hope) .... There's this sense of freedom and piece of mind, which is something we all strive towards in some way; even though we experience things differently, we all can universally understand that.
I'm so grateful and thrilled that you were able to meet me within a shared understanding, Adel.
Your generous, open and forthright nature is a beautiful thing to behold and experience. I'm lucky and always deeply glad you take the time to stop in and dig into my poems.
What a beautiful and coveted opportunity you selflessly give me... Thank you.
Much love and respect, dear lady

Dear BV,
It’s always a shock and wonder that someone, somewhere else in the world can experience something so similar and then put it to song, or in this case poetry. I don’t know why I typically feel so compelled to want something so ferociously then get it and then feel so much relief when it’s gone? 🤷🏻♀️ I’m open to suggestions 😃
Meanwhile, you’ve put beauty back into the process of growing and understanding the “self”. It hurts less and looks so pretty when you write about it. H🌷

It's beyond lovely to see you, dear lady.
I'm so so relieved you're here! Yesss!
Like usual, you've taken my confidence and managed to turn water into wine, there... Making something so delicious out of something seemingly simple and usual, you miracle worker you!!
I think sometimes we aren't really sure what we want until we get that object of desire. Once we have it, oftentimes feelings change. "Be careful what you wish for!" is an adage for a reason. I think it's our nature, it's innate... perhaps it's long ago created strands of dormant DNA that still have some sort of affect on human behavior?!?...Sounds pretty legit, right?...lmao.... 😂
Well outside of totally blaming science and or evolution, I also think that we talk ourselves into feeling a certain way, too. However, it's probably (mostly) just a random luck of the draw
Thank you for your lovely, kind words and thoughts of beauty and things being pretty .. I couldn't have asked for a better response or for comments that made me feel more accomplished and womanly.
Yours is always a soul and heart I miss.
Much happiness, knowing you're back.

When the coffee tastes great you are on a path to new freedoms. I loved the rhythm here and how it took me in and entranced me with hope in a new world of self-love and happiness. There is exuberance here that feels like a liberation of the highest order. You have gathered your rosebuds and planted them in soil rich and fertile with ideas, dreams, and golden songs to soothe your days. The letting go of loss and foraging ahead with knots undone and femininity unfurled like sails enchanted me. The depth of feeling you invest in your poetry shines here. And I felt it with you all the way my love.

My darling poet,
You've outdone yourself with completely reading me like an open book. I knew you'd appreciate and relate to that coffee reference! Yes, if coffee is tasting better things are definitely on an upswing, indeed!! ;p Cheers ☕*☕ to that!!
There's truth to many old sayings or adages we've all become accustomed to, "It's always darkest before the dawn" comes to mind when reflecting upon this piece and my experiences.
Yes, there's definitely a big breath of relief and some shaking off of the cobwebs involved but to find yourself within the framework of only being responsible for yourself and yourself alone with the road to vast possibilities free and clear ahead, is beyond exciting, freeing, hopeful, daunting and utterly terrifying... lol.... It's a cornucopia of self discovery.
Your visually alluring and truly beautiful gardening metaphor is so unbelievably apropos. I did literally plant many many things in hopes for growth and was surprised at my yield, so that comment of yours made me smile wide.
To explore one's identity while testing limits, boundaries and welcoming brand new experiences becomes deeply important and helps highlights the finding of one's way ahead.
I'm so touched that you felt the sincerity and depth you did—what a wonderful compliment and some incredibly kind feedback.
All my deepest thanks for being here, John.

Re: Re. boldness in the hereafter
I think your incandescent insight shines with a true light of knowledge and understanding. This piece, though minimalistic in style, was a difficult emotional experience to try to pen without feeling like I've exposed myself all ripped open and bloody... (which is of course how it felt in the actual lived moments) I find it harder to use less language to get an idea or flow of a poetic nature to naturally occur and therefore very challenging, so your kind words of being 'top level' feel that much sweeter, when knowing you think so.
I am incredibly grateful and very appreciative of your visit and your strong supportive feedback.

This reminded me of the “Phoenix” rising from the burnt ashes. In this case, his death. It has taken its time to heal, but you are now emerging with your own self-confidence wanting to explore avenues that were either of no interest, or not appropriate while in a relation.
My premise is that someone you were close to passed away; but an interpretation could be that the person was toxic. And the death is really you are gaining your freedom.

Re: Re. boldness in the hereafter
There's the deep insight that makes me almost euphoric while basking within it's reflective consideration! Ohhh yeah! I adore how you pay attention and see the details and nuances, it's really impressive and meaningful. (a bit wiggle worthy too!)
This piece goes much deeper and sadder then what I decided to openly reflect upon the page, as is often the case when I write. On the heavy subject matter I tend to only allude to pain and circumstance, oftentimes avoiding the pinpoint specifics. Your takeaway is close... but it's even harsher than you'd imagine, I suppose.
I'll share my intent and motivation in private, my dear Leo.
Sending all my love and deep thanks for being here with me and taking the time you do.
You bring such smiles, joy and keen understanding.... I'm truly lucky.

Your opening section has a terrific presence about it, an alchemical metaphor of how we carry those we love and have lost with us, feeling them everywhere, reflecting upon everything. Your second section carries us from that melancholy opening into the cycle of new hope, of renewal. I read recently that god shows us the crack in the wall, the way through the seemingly insurmountable difficulty. I drew comfort from that metaphor. Your third stanza is beautiful in it's succinct images of life flowering, of finding the beauty in the small things and everyday things we take for granted. The whole emotionally rich, has the courage of vulnerability and is proportionally organic and elegant. It's absolutely beautiful.

Daniel,
You're such a wonderful sight! ;p
I adore this deep dive into my little poem; it means so much to me to have you stop in and generously convey your thoughts. Your epic explanations and knowledge of that metaphor you picked up reading, soothes and definitely comforts me as well... thank you for that.
Your erudite incandescence shines bright upon my page, sparkling with all your lovely kindness and heartfelt experiential expression.
It's a defined and uniquely awesome pleasure. I'm thrilled and humbled you found some beauty and organic elegance here, within my words.
I hope things have started to look up and you and yours have turned a page to see brighter and better days in reach.
Thinking of you!
(hugs) , my lovely friend.
🌹 💙

*hugs* Doing okay honey, been renovating my bathroom from the pipes up since last Friday it's a lot of work and expense but with a shower stall I'll be able to take better care of my disabled mother. Things happen for a reason they say, sometimes I feel that, sometimes I feel like things happen and we're just a very adaptable species. 💖

It's often hard to harness... but you're spot on, CS.
I hope you're doing well and looking forward to the winter days ahead. I'm partial, myself!
Thanks for seeing me and my writing in the way you do.

Attainment of our true selves is as elusive as finding a black butterfly in the artic circle.
Powerful.

I know I'm continually trying to make strides.... it's all we can do, sometimes...
My inner goth girl absolutely loved your 'finding a black butterfly in the artic circle' ... as it felt dark in a way that I wholly regard, relate to and understand in a very personally deep way.
Again, love your thoughtfulness, bk and it makes my day to have you visit.

There’s something interesting about the lower case i’s in this piece. As if you somehow fade in comparison to the person before you. Whether that be real, or memory; it struck me that however the thought appears we are nothing before its permanence.
There was a lyrical quality to this write. Much like a lullaby. Soothing.
Thank you.

Your comments came as a lovely surprise as well as a true delight. I sometimes just write off the cuff in snap feeling of creativity and pen what comes, then go back to edit later, as my ocd requires. So that might mean typos exist that are overlooked or missed however, the lower case i's here were intended, yes... Nice catch. I often find it incredibly hard and terrifying to (try to) splay myself open in a hopeful attempt to expose all my imperfect humanity on the page, so that was also a way for me to reflect my own f'ed up fears and trepidations, then and now.
I can't thank you enough for taking the time to leave your thoughts with me, my new friend. Is there really anything better to start your day/week than with someone letting you know you're responsible for a bit of lyrical soothing? Methinks not!! 👍🏻
I'm so glad you enjoyed and found something that you found of worth, here.
Please accept my offer to come visit anytime. I'm normally way more active in participating on DUP but I've been gone battling covid for a few months now. I'm still shocked that even being vaccinated with the booster at how difficult it's been... I had a pretty bad go of it. I'm slowly coming out the other side and getting my strength back. Hopefully I'll be back in full 'fighting shape' soon.
It's wonderful to make a new friend. I've really enjoyed your reading your poems and deeply feeling your writing and I simply can't wait to get my stamina back to read more and more.
Welcome to DUP
Warm regards and much love,

A very powerful read,
Found it inspirational and stoic...
There is huge clarity in your work, accomplished by being concise.... now there is a talent!

Well isn't this a lovely way to be introduced! I appreciate the thoughtful kind words, BITS. It's a bit difficult for me to reign myself in and not use every word ever to describe where it is I am at emotionally or the experience I'm writing of, therein. Trying to pare down my poems to be more succinct or maybe just feel more poetic has been a bit of a goal of mine ... so I take your feedback to heart and hold it dear.
Your arrival and own amazing talents have really infused DUP with such an incredible rush. I can't wait to check out more in the days ahead.
Welcome, my new friend.... I hope you enjoy your time here with us 🙏🏻
Thank you for checking me out, it's deeply appreciated.
Much love and always an open door here!
