Thank you Timagination for commenting, and the RL.
You mention the possibility of Meta's collapse. Reminds me I wrote another possibility as a comp entry, titled "The Great Collapse":
The system is held
up on an erect penis
collapse imminent ...
... but I dismissed it as rather facile for such an important comp :))

Thank you Jemac - one day some little 'butterfly-flaps-its-wings' algorithm might spike the whole technological edifice, and bring it all down -- and who knows what then? One day at a time, and if you can, grow your own food is my approach.

Dear J,
Whod have thunk it? Technological babel. No truer words. I think your insight to this is so sharp. Scary as it is its also amazing that this is where we are as a civilization. This is a wonderful write and I wish you all the best in this comp. H🌷

Thank you H for your words, and RL. From the Stone Age to the Bronze Age, the Iron Age to the Steam Age, the Internal Combustion Engine to the Computer Age ... all have had their supporters promising heaven is just around the corner, and their detractors pointing out the gap between rich and poor never changes.
I had another possibility on this angle for the comp, titled "Nimrod's Cities"
The curse determines
the course to try and escape
the curse future trapped.
... but I thought the 'Babel' one had the edge.
Have a nice Sunday, Josh.

A modern day challenge, but I wonder how far this consequence will go/will be.
Nice parable/metaphor Josh.

Thank you Wally. I think the consequences with technology in the hands of unhinged capitalism might be pretty dire for the planet, and hence us humans too. No doubt a new 'technology-fix' will be proposed to solve the mess.

Hello, Josh. It's been a while. Your poem invoked a sense of dread within me. Not because of your nature, but because your poem speaks a truth that's hard to swallow. The way technology is currently being used and the future projects that countries want to impose... this isn't a future I'm looking forward to.
Anyways, great work, Josh. I have a lot of reading to catch up on.

Thank you Luna. I don't want to spread doom and gloom and fear around -- but I've always felt that if I can face (and process) my worst fears, then I can live more freely. Otherwise the fear goes underground in the psyche, and then pops up later in possibly inappropriate and harmful ways.
Take care and all the best for 2023. Best regards, Josh.
