she yearned to be
pushed
beyond the edge

he could not see her sorrow
and decide
to hurt it more

she wanted him
to be her vehicle
to altered reality

he could not see tears
that he didn’t immediately
wipe from her eyes

she helped him
overcome his fears
while confronting her own

eventually his needs
aligned with
her desires

now
she joyfully endures
her own choices

she lies
