Xavier's Smile
There are times
I want to shrink him down to the tiny baby I once knew
Blow raspberries on his tummy just to hear him laugh
There are times when I want to feed him that bottle
Just so that when he’s done, he can throw it back
And he’ll give me that smile...
There’s something about his smile
It just lights up a room
Something about his spirit that makes this family feel whole
Even when he goes through difficult phases
I’m blessed to have such a loving son
To have been gifted such a wonderful soul
In the way he cares for others
Even as he fights to find himself
He is the future
The fruit of love
An enigma in progress
A verse in the making
Creating and crafting his own path into tomorrow
While he figures out today
And yet somewhere underneath all that
There’s a part of me that still thinks of him as my baby boy
With his cute little dimples
And that contagious smile
Happy 18th Birthday
