THE CARELESSNESS OF IT ALL
"Youth is wasted on the young." Said George B Shaw
And many of us bear the scars and the testimony!
So much energy spent chasing illusions
Seldom giving mind to moderation or caution
Oh!The fire in the blood was too hot to be contained!
We climaxed on every new song*
Loosed sails and let power of the thrill take us wherever!
"The flesh profit nothing." They told us
What do 'em old folks know anyway?!
All day everyday was as good as a Summer of love!
Oh!The carelessness of it all !
Taps running on broken jars
Drivers steering leaking cars
Haha!
In the end we were emtpy, with hefty repair bills!
And many of us bear the scars and the testimony!
So much energy spent chasing illusions
Seldom giving mind to moderation or caution
Oh!The fire in the blood was too hot to be contained!
We climaxed on every new song*
Loosed sails and let power of the thrill take us wherever!
"The flesh profit nothing." They told us
What do 'em old folks know anyway?!
All day everyday was as good as a Summer of love!
Oh!The carelessness of it all !
Taps running on broken jars
Drivers steering leaking cars
Haha!
In the end we were emtpy, with hefty repair bills!

I'm no biologist but I think scientifically it has something to do with the survivability of the young, how they can handle the traumas better as a result of that very durable senselessness. When you gain wisdom you realize there were instances where you probably should have been more cautious, and the resulting anxiety arrives like a delayed reaction. There were a of lot things that should have traumatized me when they happened, not a decade later lol. So that final line contains a lot more depth than you may realize!
Growth is pain.
Growth is pain.

There seem to be blinders on humans during their youth. They can't see or hear anything from the more experienced elders, until one day you're among the elders. Tight

FOSHO the list is very long as there are many times that those who have been through the process often have not learn how to heal with the process or deal with the situation are not prepare to adjust to the growing problems of life its sad but that's just the status of some of the youths of today they want to grow up fast but yet not necessarily really ready to grow up with DEVELOPMENT of real growth and maturity 😟🤨

So true
So tragic
So exhilarating
To relive memories and magnificences that grows slightly with each retelling
As shadows grow longer The distant sunlight seems brighter

"In the end we were emtpy, with hefty repair bills!"
This poem sums up what is behind so much of what elders may consider the misspending aspects of youth.
George B (Bernard) Shaw had a long (92 years) and productive lifetime to make up for any neglect in youth (schooling wasn't his strong point) with his tremendous output of plays (getting a Nobel Literature Prize) and political activism. To think he died after falling off an apple tree in his garden

Cool- I finally have a reason to attach this song to a poem. (Needle starts “Running On Empty”, Jackson Browne)
