my sadness doesn't speak
it is quiet within me
it aches with a dull pain
but remains stoic
to flinch would be to crumble
and I don't have the strength,
to put sorrow together again

in the midnights weep for a soul touched
a moment then gone
I wasn't ready to walk on
a journey taken with a path well worn
from my heart's chambers to yours

there is sanctuary in the dawn
it says you'll be coming around again
I'll seek you in the morning light
by my mind's eye lit and keep you warm
