Because of an urge

The daughter,
Only two years old,
Growing up in a prison cell because he stole her childhood.
And since no one taught her to laugh, to dance, to sing,
She doesn’t dream.
So her eyes are dull.

The mother was raped by the man and is to serve a twelve-year sentence,
For adultery.
Only nineteen but she cries a lot, her hopes, her life,
Destroyed by that man.

But the mother’s strong.
For her honor, she will marry the one who raped her,
For her daughter, she will suffer through life with a man she loathes.

Yet the mother’s weak,
She accepts this terrible fate.
And for a safer life,
She forces her brother to marry,
The rapist’s sister.

The daughter with the dull eyes looks to the window.
She still hopes sometimes,
Reaching for that light with her eyes.
And the mother who cries,
Tries to sing to her and teach her to laugh,
But the steps won’t come back,
And she can’t remember how.

So tomorrow, the mother will marry her abuser and will live with pain.
And her brother will marry this woman;
They’ve never met and he hopes to love her.
And this woman will marry the brother;
And she will cry for she loved an other.

And,
Tomorrow maybe,
The child with the dull eyes
Will reach that light and
Learn how to laugh,
To sing her sorrows,
And dance,
To forget.

But now,
How many will suffer,
Because of an urge of
One man?
