The Affirmation

Well Hello

Strange story, this morning on my way in to work, I was catching up on Poetcast's past, and the episode on the player was the interview of you, and now... look here you are! delightful interview and readings BTW...

I think I loved the chorus here, (I know it's not really a chorus but I'm sure you get my meaning)
As each stanza unfolds the interluding of..
"Enough
I am enough."
drives it home and brings the words to life...

Those dark struggles and those horrid moments and the affirmation in between.

Hi Luna,this is a mesmerizing poem from you.
The rhythm is solid,and penetrative.
Like Revolution says--the --"Enough--I Am Enough." Really drives home the urgency of the piece.

It doesn't matter how old and experienced we become... we still need to tell ourselves these things at times.  For a long time, mine was "I'm not good enough".  I've no idea how that came to be, or when I started to tell myself that, but the damage can take a lifetime to reverse.  You are enough.  You are strong and gifted and wonderful.

"lines of destruction, battles won
scratching my arms, drawing
their way across my scarred confidence" there is something about these lines that tell so much without going into details. Those battles, those scars become badges of honor, for the fight, the courage endured.
