Virgin Words
my very first exchange
of a sexual nature
made me just a little
mature for my age
was just a little girl
when two teenage boys
told me to lay naked
made me ashamed
right from the start
no supportive adults
so i suppressed it all
now too uncomfortable
even saying certain words
like penis and vagina
wash my mouth out
with soap, don’t repeat
what i’ve told them all
dirty girl, she was only
eight years old
