Pain and Agony
It was a dark and stormy night
It was love at first sight
When he laid eyes on something surreal
Seeing monstrous mysterious creatures
With twisted and distorted features
Something grotesque that had appeal
The graveyard carried reverberations
Of lonely whispers and incantations
Putting a spell on the mind and soul
An awakening of things from the beyond
That slowly emerged and spawned
Floating toward him with a casual stroll
But they quivered in pain and agony
With a chorus of infernal cacophony
Limping and dragging their rotten feet
As their sunken eyes filled with worms
Came to light in the flashes of the storm
Revealing their gaunt and putrefied meat
The departed had come back to life
And one of them was his late wife
She was emaciated by the years inside a tomb
He knew in his heart he still loved her
With tears of joy he went and hugged her
The invocation was a black prayer to exhume
But there was no spirit or life in her eyes
Masticating on dirt and maggots and flies
Hungry for flesh to replace the one she lost
She hissed his name as if to invite him
But with a new hunger she tried to bite him
Severing his neck he felt he had been crossed
All the other cadavers then approached
As he screamed to reprimand and reproach
But by then their rotted teeth sank into his skin
In pain he yelled her name asking why
As they tore into his nerves and eyes
While blood covered his mouth and chin
The smell of decay under the pouring rain
Slowly disappeared in the agony and pain
Because one of them chewed off his nose
But the sound of flesh being gnawed
Lingered on while his entrails were clawed
As they ate his face all the way down to his toes
And though he tried to scream some more
Someone had eaten his vocal chords
As he gargled blood he felt tongues slithering
Then for a split second he heard her voice
Enjoying his flesh like a slight humming noise
While the light in his spirit him began withering
And the last memory he had of his life
Was the moment when he met his wife
As they danced under a tropical summer storm
Now being devoured by her and other cadavers
Under the rain rejoined at this beastly gather
As he was being eaten alive by a hellish swarm
What was love at first sight deemed a fairy tale
What seemed to be heaven turned into hell
This spell had a curse and it quickly backfired
The necromancer rose a thousand corpses
Using all his powers and magical resources
To bring back the woman he loved and desired
