When the song ends
There's always a hint of expectation
When the cords are struck just so
Your mind is brought into the visions of
You following the mountains and rivers of a song
Closing your eyes and following the strings
Ever so blindly through the raging storm
Screaming strings pull you along then snapping
As your heartbeat falls in line with the drums
Your feet match the beat as you keep running
And yes you are running so fast you barely notice
The keys beneath your feet sing in black and white
Their harmonies stretching into infinity as you
Slip into the long narrow passage way
As the thumbs of a giant cover the holes
Gasping for breath you shoot out
Forced to keep the pace up as if you're
Dancing between geysers of noise
And then it all stops as quickly as it started
You fall to your knees as the echos of a song
That fades away as quickly as they arrived
And then it's just the most perfect silence
As quiet as the ashes that fall when volcanoes fall back asleep
When the cords are struck just so
Your mind is brought into the visions of
You following the mountains and rivers of a song
Closing your eyes and following the strings
Ever so blindly through the raging storm
Screaming strings pull you along then snapping
As your heartbeat falls in line with the drums
Your feet match the beat as you keep running
And yes you are running so fast you barely notice
The keys beneath your feet sing in black and white
Their harmonies stretching into infinity as you
Slip into the long narrow passage way
As the thumbs of a giant cover the holes
Gasping for breath you shoot out
Forced to keep the pace up as if you're
Dancing between geysers of noise
And then it all stops as quickly as it started
You fall to your knees as the echos of a song
That fades away as quickly as they arrived
And then it's just the most perfect silence
As quiet as the ashes that fall when volcanoes fall back asleep
