Melatonin
I used to dream a rockstar dream
then I realized it wasn't for me
so I started writing poetry
gave me a bit of that feeling
looking back at my life
I had a lot of wonderful moments
like when I first met my wife
we lived apart but made it work
when I finally held her
I promised to never let go
oh melatonin
send me a dream
make it the best I've ever seen
of all the great moments in my life
come rushing back at one time
playing old games on my snes
making foods that my mom used to make
pretending that I'm still that kid
missing the ones who made me a man
sometimes I get depressed
because I wonder if there's anything left
working on myself
taking two steps forward
then taking two steps back
oh melatonin
send me a dream
make it the best I've ever seen
of all the great moments in my life
come rushing back at one time
shouldn't I be whimsical in my privilege?
I find it hard to make friends
can't make a buck when your legit
searched the world and I found love
had our adventures
fought the hard fights
now I rest my boots at night
knowing life is short
hoping I'm not wasting time

You are not wasting time, resting boots mean resting soul. Life is too short for playing n every card of doubt, enjoy all the little simple moments, this is where beautiful memories live forever. Wonderful peaceful write friend!

Oh Hello You!
Well it's been a while, I absolutely love the chorus verse in this...
"oh melatonin
send me a dream
make it the best I've ever seen
of all the great moments in my life
come rushing back at one time"
That said I actually love the whole write, that part just hit me hardest. I was almost imagining this as rock song and feeling it!
I'm also loving the way narrator is calling out to Melatonin in a almost prayer like manner.
Actually I feel the entire Melatonin theme from Title to end is poetic genius! It's very clever indeed.
Yeah! this is a damn fine piece of writing and the content is current and real.
