WHAT IS POETRY?
QUESTION
A college student
asked me today,
"What is poetry?"
I started to give
academic answers about
all the technical and
challenges of knowing
how to rhyme...
THEN
I turned to my reality
and said with a smile:
Poetry is being captured
by an urge in the most
unexpected times to
dare and arrange words
into whatever style your
urge is demanding. Poetry
is turning hurt into a song;
a tear into a smile; a memory
into a sonnet or even an ode.
Poetry is digging deep into
the hurts of the soul and
setting them free.
What is poetry?
It is what I am, what
I shall become, and what
I dare broadcast to the
world saying, "Be quiet
and listen."
Meet me at the Kissing

into this great question.
