Beginnings

Paint flakes from this faded portrait
and is carried away by the winds
of change. The old man is dead
and a new life begins.

The journey resumes on the path
that should always have been. There
is no left and no right. Only straight
ahead.

My choice is made and I will never
go back to the pain and anguish.
The sharp quills fall from me
in a painless fashion and the
poison in my veins is vanquished.

The pool that is my spirit bubbles
forth fresh water and corruption is
washed away never to return. I am
a blade of grass piercing the dirt,
a new shoot that strains towards
the sunlight.

Time slows to a crawl as I behold
this new existence with awe and
wonder. My mind is in a constant
state of renewal.

This march forwards continues
steadily. I don my new armour
and am ready to do battle with
that which is not right.

I am one solitary figure but part
of a family. I may be only a finger
but I am part of the whole body.
There is completion and peace.
