Actually, experimenting with your writing is bravery.  It also shows the desire to truly get immersed in writing.  That alone gets you applause.
Then, to read the quality, the fullness, of what you captured - That mood of inner reflection, gets you praise.  
This is a wonderful, descriptive and captivating glimpse into where you were at, when writing this.  Thank you for sharing it with us.  Almost melancholy.  Well, it is to me.

Ohh, S .. This is a comment after my own heart! (about experimenting) I often attempt various styles, themes or enter a random competition because I think trying something new, pushing past one's comfort zone, has potential to make for better writing. To consistently write within the same style/format over and over,(even with varying themes)  to me, is the perfect atmosphere for stale roots to grow. Being predictable can be boring, despite how evocative or how pretty an accompanied picture attached to a poem may be. Exploring that which makes us uncomfortable, is utterly intriguing, and if I fail at it, so be it. I will then, get up, brush off and try again. I am my own worst critic, so I know no one will ever judge me as harsh as I judge myself... lol!

Yes, this poem definitely had a tinge of melancholy, absolutely..... glad you noticed.

There is something so calming and soothing about rain, it's also very inspiring, listening, whether it's waking up to or falling asleep to it.
