Where Is Thy Heart?

“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap.
For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting.” Galatians 6:7-8

Plant, wisely, seeds for garden blooms
lest Karma sing, an off-beat tune
and with her twin, Come-uppance give
just rewards, to all who live.

O, wash thy hands and heart from soil
‘fore ill intents take hold and coil
‘round minds and tongues and wrong-laid thoughts
where harvest times, bring all-for-naughts.

Come plow the fields with honest furrows,
lay bare, the cankerworm and burrows
that seek to twist an ugly vine
from rotted roots that once were fine.

O, where, indeed, does one’s heart, lie
in works and words that we let fly?
Some will stand on solid ground
when what was loosed, comes back around.
