In the Kitchen
we cut
vegetables,
listen to
ABBA and Adele,
laugh, then
dance
sigh
remembering
the last time
I’ve been held
forget
how long since
anything else
we can change that,
you say, and squeeze me
once more
before
we both
go back to cooking.

Dear U,
There is, for me, a sense in this write that smacks of routine. A bit of the old razzle dazzle will ignite a small memory sensation. Words that bear resemblance to “hope” and “change” and then nothing. Empty nothingness. Except for all the sad and lonely emotions of perpetual polite conflict. This write, I took to heart on many levels. I love your ability and talent to relate huge depth of emotion and weave it into regular life. Amazing write. H🌷

Dear H,
ohhh, you hear me. I don't know how you do it, but your comment is always right on the mark, sharing with me exactly why it is I wrote the poem that I wrote. I don't think I have ever felt more understood without explanation. Thank you for your comment; your words are humbling. I appreciate you.
warmly,
ursa

--the subtle melting of the points of view: the we begins with observables (music, vegetables, laughing, dancing);
--then the remembering, which is shared from the point of view
--the sigh
--cooking becomes a metaphor, for something more (hopefully???)
The mixing of the points of view functions as a technique here.
There's a combination of wistfulness & melancholy in the ending that touches.
Enjoyed!

Magic grows from simple everyday seeds. It's how you water the seeds that counts. *sigh*

"in the Kitchen"
Ummm, Lady Ursa😏
How to adequately describe the scintillating visages of sheer imaginative succulence those three words (In The Kitchen) stir ever-so warmly … a bit cheeky, I know, but ohhh how true! ; p
There must be something about your photo's countenance that makes me … well, let's say, "imagine."
Equally so, how you speak sooo syntactically eloquent brings to mind a frisky nudge.
LOL! I can't begin to imagine being in the same kitchen together after all that and going back to cooking. ; )
Just listen to met, Ursa … it seems you've woken my amorous side.
Please, don't kick me to the curb for being naughty.
'Cause, I love your poetry! ⁓ Richard 🍃
