Spoonology
With rumblings of war
in the cutlery drawer
the tableware's finding its voice
Rumours are rife
said the fork to the knife
though the teaspoons
have cause to rejoice
It's alright for them
one quick stir
and they're done
while I'm working my tines
like a slave
all that prodding and stabbing
and grinding on plates
in my job you learn to behave
I know what you mean
I think it's obscene
the knife was forced to agree
They lie on a saucer
as if they were queen
it doesn't make sense to me
While we do all the work
they get all the perks
and then dipped in sugar
for free
Unless something's done
I fear we cannot go on
It's hard work chasing a pea
Before they know better
we'll have spoons on the moon
shirking breakfast
dinner and tea
