Between letters, between lines

I am a true believer in action. Taking the time with the details of love.
People can talk and say I love you.  But it is in what you do. The surprise of my favorite coffee creamer in
the fridge.  When my hubby goes grocery shopping with me and sees me pick up a certain shade of nail polish. I put it back thinking next time. I find it on my kitchen counter the next morning. The action of attention.

There are so many things that go beyond just the words, all of those actions... little things... And of course the big things like getting a new place together or having a child. Some are afraid of getting a negative response once they openly place everything out there on the line. But if they are attentive and returning the attention that you're giving it's written across the sky. It's in the little going nowheres conversations, the late night texts, the smallest things. We must be vulnerable to truly love and trust someone and what comes next can be so incredible. I love that, it's written across the sky; definitely in the clouds, the sun, the stars, everything. All those little things are so wonderful and amazing but together they create something that is so much more! Hi Mark! it is always so wonderful to see you and hear your thoughts. We are judged on so many things; but what's in the heart, that truly matters. Ah, those intentions; what is truly behind them? I have felt so much of the impact from intentions in my life. xo

Writing letters is a lost art. Pouring your tears over the scribbles is, ahh the good old days. I am not one to reminisce over the past, but this I do miss.

That is so true PG, it is definitely a lost art. Still, perhaps we can hang on to this lost art. Pouring our heart and soul into words that can move others in the depth of the waters from which they flow. Thank you so much for your thoughts. xo

So much can be said in a letter that perhaps could never be said out loud.  Like so many other things gone by the wayside in modern life, Covid being one of them, we as humans have altered communication so much that even in-person and phone communication is becoming a lost art.  
Last year before Covid began I went to a mini family reunion and my sister discovered love letters my father had written my mom during World War II.  Letter after letter expressing love and yearning, trying to fight a war overseas and get back to marry my mom.  We were blown away how vocal he was in his letters but as a parent he became quiet and withdrawn.  I felt I never really knew him but he became alive all over again in those letters.  We wondered if my mom had sent him scented letters to warm him in his loneliness as a soldier far from home ?  We will never know but my mom was a passionate woman, it wouldn't surprise me ....
Your write brought all this to the surface.  You have a way of doing that to the readers of your work.  It's a gift Kristina, i hope you continue to write and expand our horizons .....

Our communication has changed so much, with technology leading the charge leaving the art of letters in it's wake in the midst of a quick response that only leaves things on the surface. Perhaps I was
meant for a different time; one where a handwritten letter touches the soul and the gentle curves of the letters speak to the heart directly. Those deep feelings can be so hard to express but those
love letters reveal this intense emotion so vividly. The incredible passion displayed among such pain... Those words can keep us going, keep us fighting. If I can incite such memories of love and passion then I feel that is an accomplishment. No doubt her letters kept him going, kept him fighting to return home to her. Knowing  that I could bring such memories to the surface is truly an amazing feeling. Thank you so much for your wonderful thoughts. I am truly grateful for your kind and supportive words. Echo Penguinphile.  Writing letters at all is a lost art and a love letter- losing that art is a crime. I really treasured the memory of doing this and “ For hope and dreams, leaf after leaf ... ” that feeling of laying my soul bare. That exquisite moment where that utter truth is revealed to someone. It’s a fragile piece of crystal giving someone your love. You wrote me right down memory lane with this lush piece. Lovely.

It is such a lost art and definitely a crime for which I feel I am unable to offer worthy penance. Laying the soul bare for another in so many beautiful, or painful, words that touch the soul. Revealing the truth can be so difficult; something that seems to have been lost among the noise. A fragile piece of crystal so easily broken. For some reason, there are times I can only truly express my thoughts in written form. Maybe because face to face its difficult to stay on point with anxiety, shyness, embarrassment and communication feedback (verbal, facial expressions, demeanor, etc).

However, my gut tells me this poem is about writing letters to your mom, or yourself.  Either avenue I think is fantastic.  It may be easier to write out your feelings to your mom versus saying them to her directly (causing you to choke up for example).  Or a letter to yourself to help you when you are feeling down.  Of course, I could be off and its simply about writing to a boy you are smitten with!!  : )

Writing certainly does allow for a different form of expression. Sometimes it can be so difficult to truly find the right words face to face in the moment but often that is what a kiss or hand on the bum is for. ;) So many methods of communication to explore, it would be ashamed to miss any of them.  

And again, you are very much on point. I definitely thought about my Mom, and even myself within the context of this one. I do not want to show my Mom how much I am being affected by things and I don't want her to see me cry; I need to be strong. But I want her to know how much I love her and provide all the support she needs in every way. And if she ever thought herself a burden it would kill me.  

And of course it would not be complete without thinking about the kind of passionate love and need of a man as well. ;) xo

Something about being able to hold the words as well read them make them more emotional. And it’s wonderful to see the emotions stirred from all those who commented. This is beautiful.

Gotta love the underlying emotion, how it really comes across as heartfelt and passionate. As the old saying,  reading between the lines, this carries so emotionally intense.

I have lots of emotion and it comes out in the lines and between letters and lines also. I am glad you could feel how heartfelt and passionate it is. That old saying definitely carries a lot of weight still. I am really happy you liked it. xo

So very romantic, perhaps it may not seem that way sometimes but romance for me always leads to intense passion. The two go hand in hand. Romance is a fuel that ignite those passions even more. I love how you 'identify' a piece in regards to things like being contemporary. I never quite think of it that way, I just write. But emoting, ah yes - definitely good at that in real life too. ;) And different styles and moods... so many, so very many... I am so happy you saw the romantic facet. ;)
