Amaranth Sky

Amaranth Sky

Cumulous islands float like zeppelins
That collect like silver St. Christopher’s medals
Ascended into the wild blue yonder
Where their ghostly apparitions rival Fatima
To shower tears from where Jove collides
With Jehovah on his way to the grocery store
In a back alley of Mexico City
Where cats caterwaul for mercy
Among the hungry orphans
Who cry for the love of any God
Willing to hear
Their sinewy plea
For clouds heavy with amaranth
Whose granary is found in Nimbus waves
