Take What You Need

Got behind an old white man driving a beat up van
On the wrong side of town
Nothing but poor black folk around
He pulled off to the side
He put up a sign
It said, "if you got a family to feed, take what you need"

He pulled out bin after bin of tomatoes and greens
The people were cautious, but they were the happiest people I've seen
He's not blinded by greed
"I've got plenty, take what you need"

Take what you need
He's planted a seed
Like any old farmer would know
You plant a seed
You watch it grow
We are all part of the same race
The human race
If you've got a family to feed
Take what you need

Author's Note
A while back I watched a show with Mike Rowe about a farmer outside of Indy, who gave food to poor black families. Today I passed a sign that said "Take what you need", and this came to me. I was thinking of it in a Pink Floyd style.
