A Road That Never Ends

Mom loves her many precious things
She loves money and all that it brings
I don't think she'll realize I'm gone
And Dad works nine to nine
If I disappeared he'd be fine
I think he worries more about the lawn

Let's take off to some lake somewhere
Head to California, I don't care
Anywhere is better than where we are
Top down and wind in our face
Leave all our worries without a trace
Just throw your luggage in the car

And we'll be off somewhere on a road that never ends
Only turns we'll make are where the road bends
With your feet on the dash and your hair in your eyes
We'll follow the clouds with our heads in the skies
We'll make a new life somewhere down this road
We'll make our own rules, no need to do what we're told
And unlike my parents we'll always be bold

We can always make new friends
Somewhere, on this road that never ends

Besides, I've got to get you out of where you are
Your father is a monster, and you are my star
I can't stand that he hurts you so
Trust me, we can make a new life, you and I
I've got some money,... at least we can try
Just get your things and we can go

Look, your mother chose him, not you
That under your eye, is that another bruise?
Here, let me put your things in the back
I know you love your mom, I love mine too
And my dad will understand I need to protect you
Now let's get our new lives on track

And we'll make new lives
Somewhere, on this road that never ends
