my butterflies begat a zephyr
that flipped our calendars to may.
fear grips the summer’s heat!
it will wilt what was.
in june i felt my feet
bind to the hot concrete.
an endless now: right here was
everywhere.
july craved the touch of august with a breathless fervor
as it shed the days between them
closer and closer,
slighted by only a second.
by nature time passes.
time’s passing,
and time’s passed.
smile, there is always a way back
to its forever fleeting antithesis.
oh,
my dear beloved,
there is only now.
that flipped our calendars to may.
fear grips the summer’s heat!
it will wilt what was.
in june i felt my feet
bind to the hot concrete.
an endless now: right here was
everywhere.
july craved the touch of august with a breathless fervor
as it shed the days between them
closer and closer,
slighted by only a second.
by nature time passes.
time’s passing,
and time’s passed.
smile, there is always a way back
to its forever fleeting antithesis.
oh,
my dear beloved,
there is only now.
