The fire forces you
from within;
Answers you find

From fire are we forged
a phoenix of shadow-self
shape-shifting between
the sharp aperture
of a hawk's eye

We stalk shadows
stealthily
preying upon movement
beyond
our innate (in)sight

We reach
for its contour—
that outer lining
eschewing the cusp
of light

We yearn for comfort
the way of rock—
letting go
granual
by granual;
the language of the pond—
a frog's vowels
sequential hermaphrodites;
heiroglyph of wolf
air-tracking scent

Something audible—
obvious to our senses

But. . .blood stirs
in silence, becomes
a desert mirage
a frog's secret
a wolf's honor

distant, beyond
the veil of flesh

Intuition rouses
the spirit of darkness
from the many-pointed star
of solar plexus

Answers are consecrated
within the forged fire
of our breath—
this organic shell
where shadow resides
in our darkness
void of light
