Imagining footsteps on the literary path
If I had but enough time,
free of worries,
maybe I could write
in depth to rival or surpass Tolkein.
But that may just be a fantasy;
maybe fate and time will tell.
For I can blather on
with these tales in my head,
yet not put down anywhere,
unless I force myself;
but unreleased,
not for fear of failure
but human laziness
and futilely chasing perfection
while the Muse flits from my side,
so that at day's end
the work is still undone
and I am undone by the banal work and job.
Yet I dream of Planets
there is still space to fill in.
