Image for the poem bare

bare

naked in my vulnerability
don't look at me
I hurt and I don't want you to see...
what my nakedness shows so plainly
I'm different than anyone I know

eternities have come and gone
still, I've yet to find a kindred
weeping in the cold rain

will i ever find peace?

where is my place of rest?

I look at the others and wonder are they pretending
or are they really so at ease in their skin?

I rub my pain with ash
hoping to cover my bare spots
it hurts to be this open

I don't have the luxury of lying
you see through me
I can hide nothing from you
