I hear you.

There was an Irish band in the 90’s called Whipping Boy who released an album called “Heartworm” that I still listen to at least once a week after all this time. I don’t know if they ever did anything else, but I fkn adore that album.

Anyway, I’m mentioning this because this poem could have easily been one of the tracks on it... same sort of themes. This poem had that heady mix of “this is what happened and this is now I dealt with it”. I also like how it dealt with those fleeting thoughts we all have and never speak of.

The second verse feels surreal and menacing in how it conveys a simple idea (people looking at you) in such a creepy way. As if the eyes are somehow disembodied. Very well expressed.
