A Hot Minute in a Hourglass

The space between us increases as time goes on
The sands in the hourglass don't seem so drowning
And I warm my feet on their changing warmth
It's been a hot minute, but I'm enjoying it
My mind is clearing of the weirdness
That is your affect on my poor brain
That specific fogginess you bring me
Causing my mind to spiral again and again
Fractals blooming in my chest from the cracks
Rippling outward by the barest brush
The smallest encounter I have with you
But I'm good now, I'm more me than ever before
Healthy, recovering from it all; finally
It's been a rough road letting go of the what ifs
But my heart is hopeful for the future I have
While the sand still burns me sometimes
I think my feet are getting used to it
I keep going forward, building up those callouses
I have this future if I can just escape this hourglass
And I have a plan to do just that
